Right. So, I'm a mixture of bored, eager, and somewhat adept at working these internet thingies.

One of the things that's been thrown around in the chat is organizing the Wiki's front page a bit better. Since it's a wiki, it means it's editable by anyone. So Toby had an idea. A wonderful idea. An awful idea.

Toby had a wonderful, awful idea.

Since I had nothing better to do with my evening, I was essentially dicking around with ideas on a test page I made on the wiki. I'm looking for thoughts on arrangement and such. Any input would be appreciated.

Ideas? Comments? Am I wasting my time? Am I on the right track? Taking initiative, or feeling self-important? You decide!

Also, if anyone can get a larger version of the .org logo, that would be greatly appreciated. Keep me from remaking it as a vector image.

I like it, but I think instead of ?mark logos something pertaining to the category would be nice. I've got web design and graphics experience if you need help with anything for the test page.

Great idea!

I started mucking around in the wiki skin (but I need a crash course,... anybody can give me good pointers?). You should be able to check it by going to your wiki preferences (might need to be logged in to the wiki (seperate login from forum atm still)) and select CJorgSkin.

That's the plan. I have a bunch of icons sketched out and ready to be put in place of the question mark. It was just easier to mockup with a single image.


Happy day! That'll make turning it into a proper vector much, much easier. Trying to trace the low resolution one was a headache. x.x

the lock on the front page is to make sure we dont get 2 places where people are working on the front page, lock will be lifted to edit the results in of this collaboration.

Good progress. I would suggest that

Gently reworking the skin is helpful - good one marco. Who else around here can do a clean profesional graphic design job.
The yellow colour strip behind "the learning zone" is good to add prominence to the sub-title. It would be a good idea to do similar to the page heading currently "testpage".
Change the vector image to a photograph - that vector is nice, but a bit old.

The image isn't a vector just yet, it's currently a massive farking .gif. I'll be tracing it in Inkscape and making one of suitable size later. If someone can get a sharp, high resolution photograph of similar posing, I'll try and use that.

I haven't gotten much else done yet regarding the icons, it's been a crazy weekend.

Regarding the "Testpage" text: On the main page currently, you can see the text there will be "Main Page". I don't feel the need to draw attention to that fact; it's pretty self explanatory and a staple of wiki pages. The attention should be drawn downwards to the resources.

I'd toy around with a logo design of some kind for us, but I'm quite honestly drawing a blank at the moment. I'll let you guys know if anything comes to mind.
