Greetings,

I have had a large interest in Contact Juggling for quite some time, and finally took the initiative to purchase some appropriate objects.

My Sil-X ball was marvelous upon first usage, but after about a week it began feeling strangely off-balance... as if the liquid silicone inside takes longer to roll to it's rightful position. I suppose that I should also mention that, if I shake it, it sounds "sloshier" than when I originally acquired it (at that time, it tool rapid rocking for any noise to emerge.)
Has anyone else ever had an issue?

It has accompanied me nearly everywhere, in different temperatures. Could the fact that it was left in a hot car a handful of times harm it?

I appreciate your time,
- Trekista

Could be just that you're getting more sensitive as you practice. Sil X's are always off balance imo. You're better off with a regular contact stage ball.

I agree with Oct 100%
I've never really understood the fascination with sil-x for cjing.

Heating and cooling a SIL-X, like a stage ball, will cause its behavior to change, but generally only temporarily (unless those temperatures are extreme enough for the ball to warp).

I'm with Oct - you're probably just getting sensitive to the fact that SIL-Xs are fundamentally wobbly. Great for toss juggling, not so great for contact - I had two, lost both, and never bought more.

Philistines!

If you plan on only ever doing contact juggling, and never doing anything else, maybe a Sil-X is not for you... If you want to look at fusion with other juggling styles though, Sil-X are absolutely awesome.

I agree, Oli. Perhaps the manufacturers, or the merchants should start branding Sil-X as a "fusion ball" or something similar. I know some people love them for contact, but I just can't seem to get behind them. Their completely momentum based!

Also great for learning: Foot catches, body catches, body stalls, and for not rolling for miles across the floor when you drop.

When you're trying to roll a 78mm Sil-X, just think like it's a 100mm acrylic, and roll it like that... You'll do fine...

Maybe it's time for some new videos...
