Hi all,

I'm Matt.
It was awesome to meet some of you at BJC in southend (and thanks for telling me about this site!!).

A little about myself - I'm currently studying at Essex University, I have two pet geckos, and one gorgrous tarantula.

I've been playing with balls for quite some time but now I'm getting serious :jest:
I've got some basic moves down and now I'm moving on to try and learn some basic body rolls, stalls and hopefully some mind-bending isolations.

Welcome Matt

I think you should change your name to "Mathball" because that's how I first read it and it's a fikkin awesome moniker. :D

Hello hello

I'm not sure we met, but if we did, and if it was quite late on the Saturday night, then I apologise for anything I may have said or done :D

Hi!
Hehe, I also saw it as Mathball

I've always wanted a pet tarantula but my mom almost got a heart attack from even the suggestion of it. Don't know why, they look absolutely adorable!

My suggestion to you is to have a back-up ball. Because once you get awesome at it and start practicing outside, everyone is going to want to borrow it and play with it. I've just been practicing for a month and I already see it happening. It's because the stageball is so SHINY :ahhh:

I completely agree with Tavaresden, multiple practice balls.

Also, welcome! I've only been around for a couple weeks myself but everyone here has been very helpful and friendly. Currently some of my favorite movements involve isolation's so I can definitely get behind your isolation aspirations.

Wow, thanks all for the warm welcomes!

Ok, by popular demand, I have changed my name to MathBall :D

Actually I'm studying Computer Science, but my real name is actually Matt H Ball - hence the orginal username.

I know! They're so cute fuzzy little things! As soon as you're able get one (the same applies for growing a moustache...)

And thanks for the tip on the backup balls, great idea!

One quick question - would you say it's a good idea to practice with balls of different sizes and weights to get a better range of 'muscle memory' when learning moves? Or is it better to try to stick to certain sizes/weights of balls?

Hey, I asked a very similar question just a while back! http://www.contactjuggling.org/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?f=23&t=11726
Other people might have a better idea but that's what I've been doing so far. I usually keep to the same size (4'') but I switch the weights depending on what I'm practicing. When I'm trying to do bodyrolls, and increasing the chance that I'll break either the window or my face, I especially stick to the lighter ball

Those poor tarantulas are being discriminated against. Just because they look different *sigh* we must make a stand and spread the arachnid love!

I'd rather have one of them than an acromantula I suppose...
