Last December, I asked if anyone was interested in playing and got great response. I didn't expect to be given the position of being the judge and running it but I really had a lot of fun. Last year - viewtopic.php?f=18&t=7615 I am more than willing to take on the roll of running this again this year, if you all will still have me.

What is the point of this game?

With the new year coming right up and a lot of people probably thinking about things they want to accomplish with cj.....

To help keep people practicing!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! If you participate in this game, this will help you stay motivated and have fun in the process. Accomplish those New Year's cj goals! I will be working on myself also even though I'm running the game and not submitting.

THE GAME:
(this is mostly copied from Lirnyk who ran the game before me. I altered the game a little last year to help people stay in longer and give them time to improve)

The way this will work is I'll start us off by posting a video of me doing a simple contact juggling move, like windshield wiper. Then, everyone participating in the contest will send in a video of themselves doing the Windshield Wiper followed by some other move of their choosing of the same level or a slightly more difficult level.

I'll pick one of contestants to be the new "leader" based on their video. If the new leader's video was a windshield wiper followed by, say, a back-to-back transfer butterfly, then every participant then has to send a video in of themselves doing a windshield wiper followed by the b-2-b butterfly, followed by another slightly more difficult choice. I will then choose a new leader based on those videos.

Of course, if you can't perform what move the newest "leader" performed, keep practicing and do the best you can possibly do. The goal is to show yourself improving over the weeks.

THE RULES:

*Only one-ball stuff. I want everyone on .org to be able to participate, even the ones who only have one acrylic, or a lacrosse ball, or whatever. Isolations are totally welcome in the mix also!

*Every contestant will have at most one week from my picking a new "leader" to send in their new videos. I will try my best to keep to picking a new leader on the same day every week. If for some reason I can't keep to the same day or everyone is asking for an extension, I will give a little extra time. You can post a video with your submission at any time during that week up until I announce that week's winner.

*Sign-up ends NEVER. Jump in if you want to join. Sign up or be square. Please just post something saying you're interested. Convince all of your .org friends to sign up. This should be a great learning experience for you guys just starting, and a great challenge for you guys with experience.

*Be experimental! This competition is so we can all learn; if you have a new trick, throw it in there, and make us all learn it.

*Don't let your skill level keep you out of the game! I understand if you haven't been cjing long and I completely take that into account. I only am looking for if you're trying, practicing and improving.

*Say the name or explain the move you are adding. You can do this by either talking on your video or by writing it out in your post.

HINTS on how you can become the next leader:

I'm going to say this again!!! I understand if you haven't been cjing that long....or even if you have been in cj awhile but feel you haven't gotten far ( that's me!!!!!!! ) Just do the best you can. That's all I'm looking for. This is supposed to be fun.

ON THE OTHER HAND If I know you've been cjing for quite awhile and I know can do these moves in your sleep, I'll be looking for fluidity. This game will progress and get into the more advanced stuff. Take advantage of having to focus on the beginning stuff again! Focus on those details!! How can you make those moves you've been doing forever even better? Improve, Improve!!

Like it says in the rules.....BE CREATIVE!!!! Play around and see if you can find little unique variations to moves. Creativity wins big points towards being chosen the leader of the week.

Benefits of the game:

-Will help keep you motivated and practicing.

- If you are out of the habit of posting videos or are intimidated by it, this can help break you out of that.

-Will help to get your brain working on how you like to choreograph and transition between moves. Or gives you a different way of putting moves together than you usually do.

-If this game goes on for awhile like last year, it will give you a little routine of moves that you will know well and you can pull out at ANY time.

-Improves moves you already know.

-Gives you new moves to learn and work on.

What I need from you at the moment:

Just to post here in this thread and let me know you want to play! The Game will start the mid-January. That allows enough time for everyone to get back to normal after the holidays. It doesn't hurt to start use the thought of this game as motivation to practice now! That's what this game is for! :D

EDIT - The game kicks off with the first move on page 3 of this thread - viewtopic.php?f=18&t=9526&p=106502#p106502

I think the multiball one is a no go at this point...There doesn't seem to be enough interest.

I'll join in here though. :D

Trust me Marc, you're ready now! It doesn't matter if you've only been cjing for a week, you can play! We probably will only run this once a year because it will probably work better that way. Please play!

And awesome, STL, Sir RieL and BrianO! :D

Don't worry, Marc. You'll be able to stay in longer than you think. If you're trying your best, you're going to be able to see improvements over the weeks. I think you'll surprise yourself. Glad to have you in! :D

I'll join in when I can.
Could the difficulty progression go a little slower this year? Last year it got HARD really fast.

Yes, let's do that. There is so much that could be used as "beginning" moves that could be made good use of. Keep in mind that part of what is cool about this is that everyone who plays or even follows along ends up with what is hopefully nice little routine. So, I'm looking for things that flow together nicely but also looking for creativity. This is the chance to get out of your habit of always doing the same thing.

For those who are anxious to get to the "fancy stuff," it will come! I promise. Take advantage of the opportunity of being forced to go back and look at how you can improve those moves you been doing for a long time. Look at every little detail and find something to iron out or improve.
