The University of Victoria Juggling Club is holding a wonderful weekend of wacky artists on January 18-20, 2013 that we though you should know about.
Here's the details

###
Victoria Juggle and Flow Festival January 18-20, 2013
The University of Victoria Juggling Club is hosting a weekend long event in January for people to come together and learn, share and display their wild, wonderful and sometimes wacky skills. This festival has 30 workshops and 2 juggling shows. Do you have your own talent already? Join in for the open mic Renegade show on Friday and show off your skillz! There is a special guest named Komei Aoki from Japan. His fusion of dance and juggling together has set him apart from the others, and he has become an internationally acclaimed performance artist. He will be featured in the Gala show on the Saturday night at the Metro in downtown Victoria. Our show also features the best of Canadian born and bred West Coast talent. See here for more details, including directions and performers.

Hey everyone, I have to tell you that I won't be in the Gala show anymore. I have taken myself out and replaced myself with Jpeace and his partner. I am stoked to see what they can bring.

It's only a month away!

"Anyone can pick up a ball and throw it in a creative and wonderful way and find a sense of satisfaction from that. We’re open to anybody. … How young, how old a person is, that’s not really of use to us, it’s just: ‘What can you show me? What can you create?’” Monette says. “Our community ranges from young to old, either gender, every walk of life in general and it’s as old as dirt.”

I got to watch Komei's act 3 times!! Once, in Tech. The second, the show, the third, after the show at my house as a review (everyone spoke Japanese, so I don't know what they thought.) ;)

What an amazing festival all in all! I didn't get to juggle a single moment of the festival, but I was directing the whole weekend. The crew gave me a gift basket and complimented my ability to delegate properly (yay! new skillz!). The show got a standing Ovation (ok, mostly Komei) and was received well by the people. We had 2 published articles and 2 television spots, never mind the free listings we saw all around town. About 20 members of the public who'd never juggled came too!! That was some of the most special part - introducing complete newbs has got to be some of my favorite work.

I am so happy everyone was so pleased with the results. We sold out the show, doubled the attendance of the participants at the festival, entertaining about 250 for the full weekend.

Thanks to all that came, what a glorious time had by all.
Dawn
