Index butterfly by --Dizz 13:30, 14 April 2024 (EDT)

A beginner way to learn CJ is to flip and to flop. Hold the ball in the 3 finger cradle and gently toss, twist the arm and catch in the palm. This is making the ball go over the index. Going the other way is a bit trickier. Gently toss from the palm, twist back the other way and catch in the cradle. The ball is still going over the index.

The trick here is, to move your hand along with the ball. Barely have your hand touch as it goes up, then down to ease it into the catch. When you catch in the cradle, you may have to adjust for the ball rolling down the ends of the fingers, raise your wrist a bit then.
