Right, so I sort of wanted to put this in the thread in the Isolation chamber that Porcubrine recently resurrected, but I wasn't sure if it belonged there.

This is Chris Bliss, doing three ball toss juggling, but to a medley of songs and completely in rhythm to the different tempos.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AT-_2oAdN40

I think this is an example of taking something sort of basic (three ball toss) and doing something that requires a lot of work, stamina and a real sense of showmanship/musicality/fun

If this is the wrong place for this post, will someone please move it to the right place? Thanks.

Sorry I've been a little bit sick in my mouth. Why the Beatles? why did he do that to the Beatles? My favourite album of theirs as well, and he does that to it.

I've never seen the appeal of that video, it does nothing for me but then every side of the argument seems to have been covered already. So I'll just say if I wanted to see someone spazzing around to the Beatles I need only look at myself after a couple of bevvies.

*snickers* Briney you're made of Win and Awesome.

As for me, being completely incapable of toss juggling, and rather fond of synchronized work, I like it.

This is old…..
Run a search at IJDb…( International Juggling Data base) and rec juggling…

It wasn’t received very well there either.

I’ve seen it before several years ago……
I wasn’t overly impressed.

I’m predominantly a contact juggler…but I have dabbled in toss..and years before this video came out, I was playing around with toss to music, as well as contact juggling to music. All timed to the tune.

Mr. Bliss did a decent job…but it’s not super impressive.
And I’m a Big Beatles fan, from way back…Like back when they were still performing.

Some day….. when I win the Lottery….
I’m gon’a get Remy, Ryan, Silver, Marco, and Ian…together….

Hire a kick ass videotographer.

And produce a vid to ‘U2’s’ ‘Vertigo’

That song just Screams to be contact juggled too…...by several different people.

Alas….we all have our dreams……most of them don’t come to fruitation.
But holding on to them, is the first step in making them come true.

Chris Bliss understood this..and you see where he is……..

Having someone like you, post up his vid in a contact juggling forum…

Think about It……

Someone like me...do I even want to know what you mean there?

I posted this because it interested me and makes me think of similar things I could do contact wise. Inspiration as it were. I can't even do toss juggling at all, so to me, a video like this is fun and it makes me smile. I'm not going to judge the performance as critically as someone who can do this sort of thing or better. I've NEVER SEEN someone toss juggle in time with music before.

Sorry for not being jaded and experienced.

Yeah, I'm so raw at contact I still have a New CJ'er smell...I can only do the best with what I have and grow from there.

And if I sound irked, you're right. I am. It's embarrassing to be talked down to just because I don't have the same knowledge base as more experienced folk.

*sigh*

*hugs Thorn* For what it's worth, I am in the same boat as you. I've never seen juggling in time to music before, and I thought it was neat.

I think it's pretty mean talking down at someone for saying "hey, I think this is neat". All that does is make people think twice about sharing. Lately has been a cranky time on the boards it seems like

You can try clubs. I found learning clubs easier than balls. I was horrible at balls until I did clubs, after that I was fine! XD

thorn
i hope i didn't come across as cranky!
i am, in general, but i hope it didn't come across.

i won't put words in ferrets mouth, he's quite capable of explaining himself, but i understand him to mean that mr. bliss has made himself famous enough to even get posted in the uber-exclusive .org forum.

if you read the jason garfield page, he says something along the lines of "this is half decent for what it is, enjoy it for what it is, but, remember, it is not good juggling" and proceeds to show some exceptional juggling in a similar style.

jugglers in general are annoyed by the bliss vid cos lots of non-jugglers (sorry, that's probably you) are raving about an average video and after you've been sent the link 38 times it gets a bit tired.(not to mention being just a little jealous of all the attention it gets, grr.)

i have seen other tightly choreographed routines. Feeding the fish, choreographed to light as well as sound, are inspirational. (http://www.feedingthefish.com/index.htm)

Choreographed routines? Since watching that addicted DVD I'm a big fan of the Gandinis http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8MfJVROQy8Q

Also Stephan Sing is amazingly inspirational but isn't really the best example of a three ball juggler to contrast with Chris Bliss. Most of his stuff is improvisational and even on stage he doesn't really choreograph.

The thing that annoys me about that chris blis video is how ugly his body movement is. On a forum where we see the likes of ElsieDee and Ryan regularly mixing amazing dancing with juggling it does look like Bliss is just twitching around in some sort of fit.
