ok so this might be stupid...but say that I, after graduating highschool and all that jazz, and after practicing cj up until that point, want to get a job at a ren festival or something like that. how does one go about getting a job there and do you have to have some sort of special training or something? any input at all is greatly appreciated thanks.

I got two totally unexpected jobs at RenFair just by going once as a patron. If you can find a band whose music would be good to juggle to, talking to them would be a really good idea - they might ask you up to perform.

But if you just want to be a busker, I know some Faires do require you to audition, usually during the summer, and with others it'd be fine to just talk to the Entertainment Director. If you audition, they might make you go through several weekends of training during the summer to learn the accent and etiquette.

Hope that helps - and good luck!

Yeah, do a walkaround with your skillz, and confront the entertainment director if he doenst contact you first. Just walking around the fair I've been offered 3 jobs. 1 at the crystal stix stand, one with a fire performance group, and the director himself stopped me once and told me to call him up. Luckily though, I got offered a job working the try out toys stand by kevin her on the site It pays to have connections, so go, show off and make friends.

You know, I've never even been to one of these RenFairs, and there's one going on now in PA. Do the performers really do accents and all?

Yup. Here at KC you have to abide very strict codes if you work for the fair itself. This includes costume regulations, accents, slang, bowing to royalty, blah blah blah. I like to use an accent just cause its fun. Its even more fun when you switch them whilst giving a lesson

Yeah, I use mine so much I get stuck in it for about a day after the weekend My neighbors think I'm british XD

I wonder though. Is trying to get a job CJing at a renfair where Tryout Toys is at, would that be stepping on any toes? I would be afraid of doing that.

Cool! 0.0
I usually go opening weekend at the AZ faire.

TryOut Toys is Michael Glenn's company. They teach CJ at ren fairs.
