I got called a few years ago, but youre allowed one deferral and one excusal. So I deferred for a year, then the following year the date convieniently fell on my graduation day so I was excused. I can't think of anything worse than being on a jury and never intend to be...next time I get called I'll be getting me a doctors note...if I ended up on a bad case I would get so screwed up.

However, Thorn that was a great story Well told and glad you had a hot day x

Yeah, getting out of jury duty is actually pretty easy. When they're doing the whole "jury screening" or whatever they call it, just go dressed as a wizard and express disapproval of your town's rather mundane, "non-magical" methods of law-enforcement. Works every time.

hahaha that works.

Throwing in the occasional casual racial slur works too. But if you over do it you can get in trouble for trying to get out....

just gotta make it convincing

Well, I thought dressing in all black and wearing my black leather trench coat and my silver pagan jewelry would get me some odd looks. Little did I know...

It's winter boys and girls (duh), so nearly EVERYONE was wearing almost total black. It looked like a funeral, I kid you not. I would've stood out more if I'd dressed in all white.

i have so far never been called to jury duty. *Fingers crossed* But to be perfectly honest, minus the time inconvenience i really wouldnt mind. Would be interesting to me to see a case presented. I actually have watched whole cases before as my aunt is a judge, and was an attourney for a long time. But as a general rule anything one of them asks you could be used to benefit the other side if you answer negatively, so you never know what could happen.

I've been called plenty of times but I've never been picked to be on a jury. I'd actually like to sit on one just so I can feel like I'm actually contributing.

The last time I went I was at least asked questions leading to almost being picked. I think they had issues because I listed my religion as 'Jedi' on the juror information form. (Not that my religion is any of their business or should matter in being picked for the jury.)

That's interesting, Monk. I put 'neo-pagan' on mine and wondered if it would make a difference. In my case, it didn't.
