Running Springs (at the bottom of the article) is about 25 minutes from my Grandmother and Aunt's house. I'm clear on the other side of the country. I hope it doesn't get any closer than that.

Family and I went back home late last night. After pushing West, the fires have turned north.
The situation here is constantly changing with the wind.
7am news conference:
They're reporting personnel and equipment are coming in from everyone. I'm hearing a Canadian Martin Mars is the latest addition. Thanks.
The power grid was threatened yesterday and more-so today, so I'm eventually logging off and heading to a shelter and helping with what I can, probably entertaining small groups or heavy lifting...

stay safe.

Things have pretty much calmed down. I haven't unpacked yet (I keep telling myself I'm going to take the opportunity to clean out a lot of the clutter, now that all the important stuff is out of the way).
Firestorms are unfortunately a common occurrence in these parts. Those who lost their homes four years ago are helping the recent victims get through the proper paperwork so they can begin rebuilding...
The Larry Himmel broadcast is one of the memorable events from this fire. Some of the others are seeing military aircraft alongside civilian and seeing reporters setting their mic aside to help firemen pull hose to a nearby backyard where embers had set the patio deck aflame...
oh yeah, and it's beginning to rain a little bit

we're all praying for you guys...
it's nice to hear that it's beginning to rain

in the southern part of Italy, this summer we had a very big fire, a lot of people died and a lot of woods burned
, but it was a very different thing, 'cause it was the mafia who started the fire, 'cause people there didn't want to pay protection money...so, in a certain way, we already knew that something like that was going to happen...

one more thing...
i heard that the help arrived suddently, when the fire began.
but here in italy we also think that the help arrived so quickly 'cause most of the inhabitants there are rich ....
this didn't happened in Louisiana...
