On a whim, I recently started messing around with trying to contact juggle/object-manipulate my slinky. It is generally round enough that I can do a couple of butterfly and armroll variations when I just treat it as a cylinder, but anything involving rolling around curves is difficult, and I haven't quite worked out how to use its "slinkyiness" yet. Have any of you ever tried this? Are there videos or anything out there of slinky manipulation that someone could recommend? Slinky manipulation seems like it has such potential, if I could just figure out how to use it!

yeah, i did.

Two years ago i bought 50 metal slinkies and start giving them away to different jugglers/object manipulation people. (Nick, pilolipe, pich, etc.) And there are some really cool things to do with them.
I also performed with a friend of mine and just slinkies, but there is no footage of that.

if you have the metal ones, they are slower then the plastic ones.
You can do continues tumbles by adding a throw. There is a two hand and one handed variation.

it can tumble from shoulder to hand, taking the path over the arm.

there is some manipulation that can be done do to the springyness of the object, like when you drop it, it first come together before it falls down.

And a lot of patern creations, especially with multiple slinkies.

That sounds awesome! Would you mind explaining the continuous tumbles/throwing a bit more? I can't figure out how to start it without holding down the back end, and even then my tumbles are not very controlled.

Oh wait, I think I figured out the two-handed version. How would you do a continuous arm tumble one-handed? Did you ever work out how to do a full chest roll, either as a roll or as tumbles? I think I'm having way too much fun with this :)

I never worked out a full chest roll as a tumble. it works as a cylinder from time to time, but it's not nice.

I am going to the Dutch juggling convention in 3 weeks, i will try to shoot some video for you there, and let some other contact jugglers play with it.
