I'm all for everyone expressing themselves with nifty little banners in their signatures, but perhaps in my old age, I am not so fond of overtly large banners that end up taking up lots of screen real estate, also it does make users with slow internet connections wait longer than needed for posts and pages to load.

Anyway, I have used AdBlock Plus and blocked some images in signatures that were to large in size for my tastes. But I am also aware not everyone here uses firefox. So my request is maybe to have a size limit of maybe 300 x 175 pixels? I know its another moderating task and if its something that doesnt seem to bother everyone else, then thats fine, I have a work around, although I feel bad using it since I do enjoy seeing peoples personalities tied to their posts through their signatures and avatars.

thoughts?

avatars are limited in size and dimensions by the forum, so even though I'm fairly certain you are being sarcastic -- there is a bit of a difference ( imo, anyways ) between the 2.

Large sigs bug me a bit too, nearly 50% of my cj.org browsing is done on my phone these days. Mind you, in comparison to most other sites we really don't have a problem here!

I was going to say- as someone who has been on many other forums, here we have it easy. I've been in some where it takes ages to load.

i know that compared to other forums we do have it easy -- but here are some points of consideration.

** The holidays are coming up, and the Fball advertising campaign is NOT going to slow down - there is a possibility that there may be a big swell of users here, who DO HAVE big signatures, possibly from other sites and what not.

** This is the only forum that I frequent that does not have a set image size for signatures, actually I am a bit surprised that the forum software doesn't give an option for maximum image size for signatures, with that being said, most forum's ( software ) will either force signature image size to whatever the admins set it too, or "resize" the image automatically.

I guess because there isnt such an issue with big signature images, I've gotten used to it, and maybe now that there all of a sudden are some, I am finding it a bit off putting. So, its just a suggestion and/or preference no worries.

yeah, I just caught that re-reading his post, my bad. Are the settings in pixels? So, then something like 300 x 175 or 300 x 150 or 400 x 200 should be good eh?

I have set the values to the following settings:

Maximum smilies: 10
Maximum signature image width: 300
Maximum signature image height: 175

I hope we are all good with that.

How strange. I haven't been near the chat today.
