I want to start getting into Toss Poi and my current sock Poi do not work properly for this. Wanted to know what type of Poi I should get, and where to buy them, that would work best for Toss Poi, or how I could make sock Poi that would work well.

Ok to clarify yes I mean throws and catches when doing Poi. Here is video example:

When you say toss poi, are you talking about making some cross between toss juggling and poi or are you talking about spinning poi and adding throws and catches?

If you're talking about the latter, you'll want to get (or make) poi that are counter-weighted at the handle. My friend that does a lot of throws with his poi has this setup: wooden ball handles, "dog chain", swivels (not certain what end he's got the swivels on), and moonblaze heads.

I can try and get a hold of him and see if he knows more specifics like weight of the heads vs. weight of the ball handles.

Yeah, I am not familiar with the term toss poi. I am assuming you are talking about pendulum/contact poi but maybe not.

eca - Ya I am talking about throw/catch Poi. Never knew what term to use so I just used toss. If you could find that out for me that would be great.

Cory - I've heard Pendulum Poi come up, but I don't know what size heads I would want to look into getting if those were the right Poi.

Also if anyone knows where to get those other than Home of Poi, just so I wouldn't have to pay for over seas shipping.

Hey Rabit.

Yeah, CP is the bizzness. :)

I got mine from HOP and honestly, they're such a good price that the shipping cost balances it out the same as if you just bought them stateside. But if you really don't want HOP here are some:

http://www.playjuggling.com/kit-cntc-pro.html
http://www.seattlejuggling.com/products/Contact-Poi-Professional.html
http://www.needtoburn.com/firegear/contact-poi/

I haven't ordered from any of these vendors before so I can't personally vouch for them.

Also here's a vid on how to make some:

Thanks a bunch Oct for the info. Would you recommend 72mm or 80mm heads though?

The bigger the heads the easier arms rolls will be. Size won't make a difference to the throwing parts though imo.

GET 100mm ends!!!!! If you are thinking about doing contact poi that is. The larger ends make a huge difference, I regret not getting 100mm ends, I have 80mm. Otherwise still go with the larger 80mm ends. I can vouch for www.needtoburn.com, he is a guy from Florida but I have never met him but, he makes every pair to order. Get the silicone handles, they may be a couple dollars more but way worth it.

My buddy had this to say: "Ball handles are gonna be the best way to go, then its all just a matter of balancing them with the heads to get a nice rotation around the centerpoint of the chain."

Ball handles are the silicone handles I am talking about, definitely go with those. http://www.homeofpoi.com/shop/productDe ... b-Silicone

This is my recommendation, if you can get someone in american to make and ship if for cheaper go for it. http://www.homeofpoi.com/shop/productDe ... 00mm-Balls

What's the difference between the Silicone heads and the PX3 heads? I've been trying to figure that out all night but can't find any information that explains any major differences.

The px3 knob is a harder plastic and is smaller, the silicone ball handles are fully round and are heavier and nicer in my opinion. I have never known anyone to use the silicone handles and not like them.

Word of advice when learning isolated throws, stick something over your nipples... it will really save you some pain. :)

The PX3 is a juggling club knob:

Not all ball handles are silicone. A lot of my friends use wooden ball handles (likely safer for fire performance).
