We all learn basic moves.
We then combine these moves into combos/tricks.

How many of these must be strung together to qualify as a routine?

Thoughts?

When creating routines I don't think the amount of tricks or moves is important at all. You could do a whole routine with nothing more than enigma variations and mesmerize an audience.

One of my favourite performance/routine building excercises is to take a sequence of 3 moves you can transition between smoothly. Add the element of repetition ie. repeat one of those moves between 3 and 12 times. Next add the element of duration ie. hold one of those moves. Finally change the tempo of one move ie. do it faster or slower than the others.

I found playing with those elements opened up a whole new world for me when building routines.

Words of wisdom, my friend.
Thank you.

Today is my one month anniversary of starting CJ (with no other forms of DM known) and so I've been trying to build up a routine. I think I will take your advice and practice that way.

Thank you.

a routine = something that you do with a certain regularity.

stop worrying about it, and start seeing the moments that reoccur again and again.

Whatever you want it to be. You could create a routine entirely made from enigma variations.
