OK I searched the forums for this first, but either I suck at searching or it wasn't there so...

Is there a name for rolling the ball from your palm (facedown) to the back of hand going over the outside edge (pinkyside)?

My son and I have been calling it a Jareth since it reminds us of the Goblin King when he steps from the underside of the staircase in the Escher maze,to the topside. We'd rather use an accepted name.If there isn't one then we humble submit this one.

I believe your describing a pinky flip

But I'm willing to adopt the name "The Jareth" :D

I'm very new at this, but if performed right this seems to have a very gravity defying look to it. Not sure if it shows in the video.

It's better when your hand is pointed toward the person viewing it.

BTW this forum has already taking me out of my comfort zone. I just made a video of me doing a trick. Made a Youtube account and posted it just for this. I may have OCCJD. :ball:

I just like thinking of them all as "hand flips". You can go from palm to cradle over inside, outside, or fingertips in a host of different styles for different effects. Here's a nice tutorial...

If you watch his video, he's talking about something other than hand flips. I do the same move; it's my usual way to get out of a thumb hold (http://www.contactjuggling.org/wiki/ind ... Thumb_Hold). It's thumb-hold-over-pinky-to-cradle and cradle-over-pinky-to-thumb-hold (the latter of which is significantly more difficult than the former).

I've been doing that particular flip since I first started learning arm-rolls. I'd try an arm roll, accidentally drop the ball, catch it in my hand, and then do that little flip in a fluid motion to make it look like I'd done it all on purpose.

I never felt the need to give it a particular name.
