so when you have not read a new post the forum flags are yellow, if they have black dot that means that you have post there before.

but what if that yellow flag is blinking? what does this mean?

I think if it's flashing it's a "hot topic." Which I guess means that there's a high volume of posts being made in it during a short time, such as a few of the Fushigi threads.
