New Technical/Moves Sections?
A new sub forum for all the different Disciplines would be great, and make it easier for us to discuss the finer details of contact juggling. 100%  100%  [ 48 ]

Ok, I'll leave the new naming system for now, but i Might throw in a trial somewhere along the line. I believe that Contact Juggling is evolving at the moment, and I think we need to reflect that evolution.

This might be a daft idea but I'll throw it out anyway. You could have a subsection called "evolution" where folks could post innovations, things never seen before, and discuss the growth and future of the art...

Ed would gladly take on the responsibility to revamp. He needs help..needs someone who knows this forum's detailed workings. So now we just patiently wait till someone can come along to help out Ed. I'd help if I could or was within my power. I know a lot of us would. But for now, we wait.

I am only a lowly moderator, I don't have the knowledge OR the power to help.

Who volunteered to do this? Then I shall endeavor to give them the necessary privileges and passwords.

Can Another Admin show me where to make the changes so i don't f**k s**t up, or handle this for me?
We're going into the next wave....

Help this man help this Blog! I like your passion and i know you will make it as good as possible :D
BTW, if we got a routine/complete show that is a mix of more than 1 techniques, will there be a separated chamber for these things?

I feel for you AnimatEd. I had the shivers while updating the site last time :-) that's part of the job.
But, you should have your site admin privileges set correct to make the changes. I'll have a quick looksee in the admin panel and see if it is easy to figure out how to reorganise (move forum sections) and make new forum names.

I've never reorganised a forum, but it look pretty self explanatory to me; what i explored:
1) access admin panel (login link bottom of this page)
2) select tab FORUMS (show the current Board Index: CJDiscussion and Non CJ Discussion)
3) blue buttons to the right move the forum up/down in order, green gear for renaming, orange refresh got no idea, red cross button - do not press ever!
4) clicking the CJDiscussion Board index will expand it to show the sub-forums
5) at the bottom of the FORUMS tab there is a box with next to it "create new forum" - it probably does just that. However they did not know how to program correctly and apparently (as said on top of that page) we need to "copy or set appropriate permissions for newly created forums to have them displayed." I see there is an option to do that shown in the left frame "Copy Forum permissions".

I do think it good to make a backup before tinkering around:
6) probably should be numbered 1) in tab MAINTENANCE in left frame option DATABASE Backup - don't know how long or how much MB it'll cost but I would just punch the button for Full, gzip, store file locally.

hope it helps to get you further
marco

Ps: I bumped Elsie and Arnar up to the Administrators group instead of the mod type.

Cheers Marco. Legend.

Just had a look.

I'm gonna add a new 'Technical discussions' section for discussing, well, technique. I'll move forums across and stuff too.

Looks easy enough.

Back up first... ok, this looks like it'll take ages... tell a lie... that's that bit done... no idea where it ended up... yay for entering stuff blind and hoping for the best! ;)
