thanks Richard.

I've just got home after taking my first ever ballet lesson. It was very hard, and I got quite muddled at times and I basicallly have no rhythm or timing, but if I stick with it for a while I hope it might work into my contact juggling somehow.

I also have a feeling that within a couple of years my mind will crack, I'll have a midlife crisis and end up becoming a morris dancer. I'm less sure how this would mesh with contact juggling though. If it can be meshed though... awesome!

For the record, I prefer the big stick version of morris dancing to the hanky waving version. Something like this:

Maybe there's potential for some contact staff/morris dancing cross over...?

Im currently working on shuffling, trip-wave style dancing with my contact ball.

I was thinking that within time I would be able to do body waves with the ball being the point instead of the body pop or tut or wave point.

I almost have my dancing down to a good state of introduction with single contact object manipulation, so when i have something figured Ill post.

Given how many sticks they get through in one performance around here splinters would be a major problem!

Posted a video on the other dance thread before seeing this one, but here's my all-time favorite swing vid...

I took Lindy Hop lessons for a couple years, and loved it to death! One of the most interesting things they taught us was connection. It's very important to be able to send split-second signals to your dance partner, and receive them if you're the one following. In fast Lindy, there's no time to think, so the signals comes from a certain tension between dance partners. Too little tension and the signal doesn't make it to the partner's core. Too much tension, and your partner loses any able to contribute his or her own style.

The feeling I often got while dancing was like a spring being compressed and released in quick succession. Difficult to implement in body rolling, but I love the feeling!

For me it's a mix of contemporary dance, circus acrobatics ( every kind of acrobatics : gym, capoiera, tricks, break and some specific circus acrobatics, handstands ), pop-lock, mime, circus theater. Contemporary circus, what ever.

I really want to incorporate the drunk giraffe into a CJ routine. So far my attempts have failed. Here is a video for those who aren't familiar with it:

Do it whilst doing a headstall wearing a fez...it'll be amazing.
