Hey y'all, soooooo I've got this crazy plan. It goes like this: I'm trying to electronically busk up money to get me overseas to Edinburgh Fringe this summer. I've just launched a Kickstarter and it's here: http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/84493203/richard-hartnell-oakland-to-edinburgh

The plan is to crash BrianO's place while trying my hand at busking for three weeks at the best damn busker festival I've ever seen. If I can get over there this summer and see success, I make enough money to pay for next year's EJC flights and ticket, followed by another busking session at Fringe. Repeat as desired, which means probably forever. I've run some preliminary numbers based on what I made there in three days last year and I think it's gonna work out. All I've gotta do is get over there.

I'm offering video consultations and group workshops and other cool stuff as rewards, as well as 3" acrylics (priced relatively competitively) for folks you might know who wanna patronize the arts but don't necessarily want lessons and workshops the like. I'm kicking myself for not having buttons, stickers, and shirts ready, but finals and the beginning of summer tour intervened.

I've gotta pull $100/day on average since Amazon kind of screwed me over at the last minute by holding my account for like ten days. So if you wanna help patronize ongoing cross-pollination between the 'Burgh and the Bay, now's the time!

<3 all y'all. Feel free to put it out there to other patrons, and expect that it'll come back to you when you get your own projects launched.

Here's the link again: http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/84493203/richard-hartnell-oakland-to-edinburgh

Well- I finally managed to donate!

Richard, I sincerely hope that you can make up the total quickly. I've been emailing people to try to get them to support you but we will see how it works out.

As for the rest of you on dotorg- I know we're all broke, but this is Richard Hartnell! He's one of the most [if not the most] helpful people here on ContactJuggling.org. Nearly every question that I've seen come up on these forums, Richard has jumped on quickly with invaluable information. So donate for your juggley mate~ And if you positively can't donate, at least spread the word around.

These kickstarter pages require A LOT of support, and if there is one thing us contact jugglers are good at, its being positive and supportive members of the community and to our brethren! I hope this hasn't come across as nagging, I'd just like to see Richard get the support he deserves.

Thanks everyone... embarking on round two of hype over the course of today... the middle part of long projects isn't the most fun but it gets you to the end, which is!

Just put up a couple new rewards, mostly props and group classes right now (though you're free to buy a sponsorship link if you, ahem, own a juggling company ;)). If you want some closer scrutiny on your practice video or are fiending for a new ball then there are some options there too. Thanks y'all... got the fingers crossed!

If my busking works out well enough (or if the theatre finally pays the show I'm in what they owe us) for me to pay my rent with any left over I'll certainly donate something, even if it's not enough to be noticeable. Either way I'll keep my fingers crossed for you, hope it'll work out!

Under 7 days to go, $1,185 pledged by 28 backers. (plenty of those appear new to Kickstarter so that's a positive in itself)

It looks like there has been good uptake for the 3"/75mm acrylic for a $25 pledge and the new offer of a 90mm for a $40 pledge has some interest. I'm glad that people have started to take Richard up on the group and video workshops. I attended two of Richards workshops at the EJC, they were well received, positive workshops that I've drawn upon in both performance and practice since.

If nothing jumped out at you the first time you checked out this Kickstarter maybe have a look again at some of the new offers tickle your fancy and hopefully get Richard onto his planned annual missions to Scotland and the Euro mainland (so that we get to have him over here more often :) )

$1,318 with six days to go... I think I'm gonna make it... thanks for the props, plugs, and patronage! Bonus points to Sean for being the one to break the $1K mark :)

Now I gotta stock up on extra acrylics... it's been crazy running this thing from the road... can't wait to get home for a day or two to do upkeep!

55 hours left and only $142 to go! If we're all willing to give a little more, we can make it :D

asghghkasdlchadklsfs IT'S FUNDED!

It can get over-funded if anyone still wants to pick up props or workshops :) Thanks a million, y'all! I will be making some sweet sweet video in the 'Burgh for sure.

Congrats, Richard! Very cool!

I really would've liked to give you something too, but I don't have a credit card and no way of getting one at the moment. They're not that common around here...
