Card isolations combined with flourishes could really enhance a performance.
I like it.

Yeah I like this a lot. If you could get the cards to stay perfectly still it would be a really stunning and unusual performance.

Awesome concept, I think it'd work really well in street performance. I might incorporate some of those ideas myself :D

Thank you so much for this idea. I could picture this in one of my acts! Isolating with cards... I never thought to! Time to go start practicing. lol.

wow! really great stuff here. I have done some of those movements with my cellphone on my train rides, but there seems to be a lot more you can do with the lightness of a card. keep innovating.

During a street performance if anyone questions anything you're using that's a good idea. Use their cellphone or creditcard/drivers license/ passport etc. Prove it's not your props and that it is in fact magic.

Thought that was relevant, those who aren't familiar with theory11 and the magic/cardisty community will probably see no meaning in that, but oh well.

I liked his interpretation of the two ball ratchet at the end, very good idea.

That was great, good post Wyatt! I'm a bit flummoxed at the first move, I can't suss it. I really hope it was manipulation and not rigged...

To be honest, I have no idea either, but its in the cardistry section, so I doubt there is any trickery involved, I guess for $10 you could find out.

Edit: Actually after watching it a couple of times, I believe just before he split the deck into two packets at the start, he was firmly pressing his left thumb to the back of the card, so it stuck a bit. Then isolating his left thumb, he could rotate his hands around and pretend he was also contacting it with his right thumb.

skip to 1:15 in this video, its an often used move in cardisty. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wFPksG4_ ... re=related

Yeah, my guess was he'd maybe licked his thumb first, but you can see he does put some pressure on it. It almost looked like he was pushing it onto a pane of glass, it was only because the other cards he was holding were further forward that I knew he wasn't. I'd considered that they filmed that move through the glass table that is in the video.

I've been playing around with this sort of stuff since I saw the video, it's good fun. I'm always manipulating my phone, and this isolation stuff works kinda well with it too!

I was thinking about card isolation the other day while holding onto a business card. It's awesome to see it this soon and know that it's possible. I'm wondering how much smoother it could get though. It's kind of in the nature of playing cards to be wobbly.
