<This is one of those posts that no-one will really make sense of right now... but 10 years later somebody will look back on it and realize that the idea was there>

Ready?

-:Bodyrolls can be strobed. So can isolations:-

And this means... maybe, they can be animated.

Anyways... I'm off to practice for another few years.... then maybe i can get close to making a video and showing you what I'm on about. Alex might beat me, though. He says he should have it by next summer.

btw... strobing = elsewhere.. orange t-shirt... checking his watch in stutter-motion. Animation is even better.

So excited! It is happening!

ryan, you are undoubtedly insane, probably a genius as well, but ultimately insane. very very nice idea btw, is going to screw me up for a while i think. Kelvin would be a good person to have a go at this.

I have videos... of Ryan and Alex looking slightly confused while strobing without balls, it's one of those moments when you look around and think : hang on, my friends are just weird... and no, I won't post them up because I value my kneecaps. It's good stuff though. Look out for strobe-jugglers in a store near you...

BTW Tuco, strobing is moving rapidly in a jerky sort of motion, much like under rapidly flashing lights at a nightclub. You can get the same effect by blinking your eyes very rapidly, but that's not as much fun :)

a excellent example of strobing (without a strobe light) would be seen by checking out the movie
Breakdance
(originally known as Breakin but was changed due to the fact the media in the 80's labeled this art BreakDANCING even though it was actually just Breakin)

Although its called breakdance its actually more popping (go figure, i wanted to see some mad moves busted out).

There is one popper on there who just made me go WOW
His name was Pop'N Taco, and he is the one who taught michael jackson howto dance (including teaching him the moonwalk, which is actually called a backslide, michael jackson was a tosser for labeling that move.. and no! Michael Jackson did not create breakdancing!).
went a bit of track for a moment
Pop'N Taco does some incredible strobing in this movie
its pretty close to the start (the typical, good guys get shown up by bad guys are the beginning) and Pop N is a ba - d in the movie just so you know
Instead of searching the internet for clips of good strobing
saved yourself the time of watching some 14 year old kid in his living room with his cam corder, and go rent this movie.. it would be like $1 Australia dollar to rent for a week... so probs like 50cents, and yes, for that price i think it is worth it
(strobing is very hard, ive been trying it for ages and still am crap as hell.. best of luck to those who attempt it)

Ticking is damn near impossible to do well (elsewhere style) WITHOUT a ball. Good luck fellas. I'll probably try something easier, like driving a car on two wheels as I ride a unicycle out the window, steering the car with the tyre of the unicycle , and cascading nine balls (c'mon, anything's possible). The ball bounces too much when I try it. But I look forward to seeing you guys perfect it.

SO theoretically, if you were to strobe at the same speed a strobelight is flashing then you would actually look like you are moving fluidly?

I hear that this pop n lock girl named "Pandora" is like the worlds best popper *ahem* I also believe she was the girl groving to that dirty vegas song in the mitsubishi commercial.

Also, I found a video on kazza called "liquid eric" or something, that kid was pretty amazing may be worth checking out.

Yep... Eric is a legend in the Liquid scene. Big part of the Liquid Pop Collective, who can be found at reflective.net.

Three good videos of him... one in front of the arcade machine, one in a nightclub (mostly red, really chilled out.. there is another nightclub vid of him which is kind of rubbish) and one of him in New Jersey which is sort of cool.

Nicest strobing i've seen on the web is 'Kolla2001' (search google), elsewhere
oh, hell, hang on.

strobes like he is checking his watch.

Heard a lot of talk about Pandora, but never seen her dance :(

Pandora is NOT the best popper in the world. Her tutts are tight, but all her other stuff, including her ticking, is just okay (this coming from someone who is s**t at all of it). Elsewhere rocks! Eric is cool. I found a video (on soulseek I think) called fluid_girl.mov and I have no idea who she is, but she is awesome at ticking, and tracing body waves. Skywalker rocks too. He's another detours dude. And if you like locking, Midus is pretty cool. I still think Elsewhere has the best ticks. I always think my computer's fucking up. And that's what illusions are for. Tripping you out.

Now what would be properly hard, would be a strobing arm-wave with the ball being pushed along by the wave...

Incidentally - is strobing the same as ticking?

I need to get my waving nailed before moving on to strobing - but heck, something to think about :)

does anyone actually have the detours dvd/video? im thinking about getting but just realized you need a paypal account and i have a bad past with them. but overall, i can not imagine how you would strobe or tick a body roll WITH a ball....just seems impossible to move a ball between hold points...so sharply. maybe if u went very slow? in terms of the strobing? all of the liquid seems to blend very well. as durbs has demonstrated. liquidy types of movement tend to come naturally from cj me thinks. as well as the short abrubt stops. but nowhere near as refined as the popping and liquid kiddies....me thinks me must practice that artform aswell...crossbreeding we must doooo yesss...mmmm
