sadly i am with dawn as well, these commercial are DESIGNED to stick in people's heads, even once it stops running, people will remember it, everyone remembers skip it, hell i still remember the song,

sing...and the very best thing of all, there's a, counter on this ball....c'mon you all know it...

CJ in north america is forever changed, acrylic contact will always be associated with f-ball, and this new commercial aside, the phrase "magic gravity ball" sticks in people's minds, that's why they chose it!!! This is based on science and focus groups, not a "respect" for juggling or us. Their old commercial was unclear, the suckers, ahem, CUSTOMERS thought they were getting a magic ball, of course they weren't, they complained, so they changed the ad to make it "that cool new thing with the hippers and the hoppers and the wow wow wow" (see colin's post on the co-opting of hip hop dance)

I am in europe now and was practicing today in the park, i was so SO relieved to not have anyone approach me and yell FUSHIGI wow how does it work my sister/cousin/significant other has/wants/would kill to get one of those, are you selling them? I felt so good, then I felt sad, because i knew that in my home country this will never, ever happen again. Just like dawn said, people remember labyrinth 30 years later, fushigi is here to stay, black is white, up is down, dogs and cats laying down together, in other words, chaos. But we will soldier on and rock stage balls and hand things over to people and talk and demonstrate and everything we are already doing, because i for one will not let this CENSORED, um "kind gentleman mr. john cammarano" ruin what i have dedicated so much of my time and energy to.

And there i go getting mad again, time to juggle. good bye my lovelies and may the spheres give us strength.

The reason I believe the damage is irreversible is because most people have a tendency to just write things off. Even if that person has no interest in CJ the knowledge of it coming from a bad commercial will lead to influence in people who would have had an interest had it not been tainted by the miss-information of the Fushigi marketing.

Interesting. I still think it will blow over once Fushigi's profit margins go down and the need for so much late night exposure dies down.

Nope! I theorize that this damage will be for the entire generation of people who saw this commercial.

I say this with the knowledge that people saw the Labyrinth once when they were 5, but remembered the crystal ball for 30 years, having not seen it again. At least %40 of my (pre-F.ball) audience asked me about it, or referenced the Labyrinth when I do a show.

Valid point. I can still remember the day I found out david bowie wasn't as cool as I thought he was when i found out those were not his hands.

Interesting factoid:

go here: http://tess2.uspto.gov/

Select The Search Form, choose- Structured Form Search (Boolean)
type "zoom tv" in the search term. including the quotation marks.
you don't need to mess with the other parameters.
submit search

Notice the filling date the magic gravity ball one.

August 12th 2010.

Where is that quote from John lying his ass off about dropping that tag line? what's the date on it?

@Colin: While I'm not for the Magic Gravity Ball line, it is synonymous with Fushigi, so it may not be as sinister as it seems...could just be preventing people riding off of their marketing. Although in all likelihood that is an enthusiastic outlook.

...I really never liked that combination of words. Magic Gravity Ball.

but it's the dates. If they snagged the trademark back in apr when they originally did fushigi. fine. But then going for it after consisting reassuring this community that they were dropping it and its been removed from their advertising..(it hasn't btw). you get where I am going....

Point is you can't believe a word.... it too easy to see past their rhetoric into the lies. This is simply yet another piece worthless(you don't need any other fact that they actually still use the magic gravity ball) evidence that it's full of s**t. and There is yet still no reason to trust this company, well beyond trusting them to BS people out of 20$

What I think most funny is among all the ball related toys, they list under the Goods and Services part: "...flying toys using electrostatic levitation,..."

Can you apply for a trademark on something that your product doesn't even do? Perhaps that just happens to be in the Goods & Services category that they are applying for. Either way, I still think it's funny.

I believe that Fushigi is only irrelevant to those people who don't have to deal with it (aka Europe/UK)
You should come to town and see, Drew. Wanna come to our juggling festival next year? June 24-25 :P

Didn't John claim all this is unauthorized action by third parties? Do we know he was lying about all that or just suspect he might have been?

it doesn't matter if he knew, did it or authorized it. his company means his responsibility to take the appropriate actions

Just call me curious but has "The Amazing Kenny" ever said anything on here about this subject?

Ever….?

I have finally gone threw all 100 pages of the other post
(Fushigi! - Our first impressions from contactjuggling.org)

and nowhere did I see Kenny post or dose he have a different name here?

I have seen C.J.O. post (known on you tube as Vampire713) and watched his video's along with Kenny's vids

Is he not aloud to talk about it? Defend it. Or am I going to get tarred & feathered for asking about a taboo subject?

Kenny's posted a few times before, under something like "TheAmazingKenny." CJO of course has been somewhat active on the forums for a while, and to the best of my knowledge they're both allowed to say whatever they want here, both according to ZoomTV and the DotOrg mods. While lots of people have been angry at them for lots of reasons (some of which I don't think are justified, but it's really not worth getting into this again), the mods have been very good about keeping this an open forum and not banning users who they perceive as hurting CJ.
