Online communication often has that drawback..
After I posted it, I figured I had put too much thought into it but in light of what I responded with, i feel it helped remind me whY i'm doing all of this in the first place.

In any event, I hope this helps you. ^_^

*hugs

Primarily it helps me realise I'm not alone in my thought processes :)

Edit: and to remember that you can't see me smiling in text format!

This was kind of weird to film.
The lesson was followed but your progress probably won't look like mine.

Just a quick post, this has made me go right bac to first principles and I realise that I had entirely ignored part of lesson 2!

Never a bad decision.
If you don't mind me asking, what part did you ignore?

I'd completely skipped the bits about rolling over both hands in a tray formation! Fairly major bit of the basics to miss really, I was in too much of a hurry to get to the multi-ball stuff.
never mind, solved now!

Edit: been offered a loan of it so can probably start next week.

It's amazing how going back to the earlier lessons reveals new things each time. Just last week I started to comprehend the principle of "making a space for the ball to roll into" rather than lifting/pushing it. It's such a tiny difference but wow what a difference!

I started last night! I can now make a tray, and eventually I even put a ball in it and rolled it backwards and forwards.
Unfortunately, the instructions for exercise 2.1 said that "if you move your hands, the magic is lost." I took that to mean that every time you move your hands, a fairy dies. I'm sorry, Tinkerbell. :(

Just clap your hands afterwards and they come back to life :)

Phew, that's a relief! It should really be spelled out in the book itself.

Yep, you'll be glad to hear, that "the magic is lost", doesn't actually mean that if you move your hands that any fairy dies.
They just get a little bit disorientated, kind of like they're drunk.
Some of them even quite like it. :D

Thanks for that, I'll add it to the errata for the second edition.

Oh wow, thanks for correcting me on that. You should definitely add it to the errata, as I wouldn't let this one guy leave to do staff in case it caused a mass extinction, and it was a bit awkward.

So tonight I built a multiball fort out of foam blocks, somewhat like these ones:
http://www.backtobasicstoys.com/images/3847.jpg
Multiball forts are great, because when you drop the balls they just roll into the fort and bounce back. Anyway, it seems that forts attract people, but I wouldn't let people in unless they were going to grab a ball and contact juggle, AND THEY DID. I am now at the part of the book where you have two balls rolling around while you close your eyes, and a couple of people joined in with that. This worked well in some ways, because we had a ridiculous amount of fun, learned stuff and corrected each others' postures. It worked less well in others, in that we accidentally inserted dinosaur/dragon sound effects (one of the multiball crew was sleep deprived and maybe a bit drunk) and also got confused trying to figure out whether we should be wearing a hat, like in the pictures.
