There's a strong possibility I'll be working Scarborough and/or Excalibur, those will both be sooner than TRF

Scarborough Faire, in Waxahachie, Texas, goes from April to May, 2005. See http://www.scarboroughrenfest.com/

Excalibur goes from march to april, 2005. See http://www.excaliburfaire.com/

I believe that The "House of Play" will be at both of those, I know Scarborough for sure.

I'm not sure technical skill can really be judged in CJ, I think artistry is more important because it's not how many tricks you know it's how you vary them to your own personal style.

My background before CJ was skateboarding and diabolo. Both of which emphasize "tricks" over artistry frequently. This has definitely influenced my CJ. Subconciously, my goal has always been to learn more difficult moves and link them together with previously learned ones. I think its debatable as to whether this is a good/decent/terrible approach to CJ. Obviously this technical approach can sacrifice a lot of flow and body movement (i have proven this many times over). Lately I have been trying to combine my technical tricks with unique body movement, etc...

To those that claim my style is poor:
You may be right, but I can still (Outside-Elbow--->Chestroll--->Outside-Elbow) both ways and you can't :-) (JK sticks his tongue out childishly)

On the subject of doing the contest:
I would love to see some new moves come out of this thing. Show us what you've got!

PS: It's 4:34 AM, if this post seems egotistical, childish, drunken, etc... keep that simple fact in mind.

Erg, I forgot to check this thread for a while and the place goes nuts...

Anyway, my idea would be to post gif animations of the trick you have for that round. The judges, if we get any, would then decide who is the winner for that week and give them a point, or just the glory of being the winner for that week. I also wanted to make this for more beginners and intermediate CJers, we couldn't really have Kevin join in because he'd kill us all. (That was a complemient, not just something to keep you from joining) However, the judges would probally need to be more experienced so they can judge properly. Maybe if this works we could make a division for people jsut starting and for the vets.

Really, the whole idea of this was to help push eachother to become better CJers by use of friendly competition, so there won't really be an end to it.

With that said, we still need judges so we can start this thing!!

Well, that may be a problem for those who don't have webcams. . .but hey, I'll judge, if you'd like me to.

I have a 15-second video function on my camera, but no stand for it to speak of... so the angle on my shots might be awkward, but I'm willing to do it ^-^
I say let's start now with our 2-3 people and let others join in after seeing that this thing will actually happen!
This seems more effective than just saying we'll start it "soon" and then having people view this thread and forget about it.
I'm still pretty much where I was a couple weeks ago, school and vacations have been hectic, so it should still be a 1-month type trick, and only using 1 ball so that more people can actually do it. I suggest the one hand palm iso, because it seems very useful and easy (I think) to pick up. I think, if possible, you need to do 2 variations of it, whether it be two directions in same hand or one direction on two hands, just so that it promotes outside thinking. I'm going to start as soon as the next person posts on this thread, and right now I'm gonna go look up how to post clips!
LET THE GAMES BEGIN!!!! ...IN A LITTLE BIT!
Peace

I'm doing just fine, thank you! Lately I've nailed the chestroll about 30% of the time with my 2.5", about 50% of the time with my 3" :-D
I don't like using my 3" a lot, though, only in my room with everything within 5 feet padded :P. I've worked a bit on my one hand iso, and I've got it looking pretty good until I get in front of a mirror. It shows what I'm really doing, not just what I want to see :P. Anyways, I should have some interesting things for the Christmas Tree event, including my never-before-seen (by you) right angle circle. Have YOU created anything new recently? Huh?!?
(hehe I win both ways, either you haven't and I have bragging rights, or you have and I get to learn something new! Sucka!)

I will also be in Houston (I know you know that, but others might not), and a meetup would be nifty. Hope more people can come!
Peace
~Snumpkin

This is not a game of one upsmanship (well, actually it is, but...) but I just got an elbow stall for the first time. Not nearly as impressive as a chest roll, but I'm excited. I've only been at ths for about two weeks (since Thanksgiving) and I'm getting windshield wipers about 95% on the right and 50% on the left. But I do better arm rolls on the left?!??!

Now I'm trying to work on transfers, doing the circle things talked about on the Wheneverly (BTW, any idea when the next installment will be out?)

I'm not too far from Houston (~ an hour and a half) so if there is a get-together, keep me in the loop, I might be able to make it.

...and it seems that the only time I can do chestrolls reliably is at home in my room standing over my bed... maybe I have something of good luck in there, cuz every time I try to do it anywhere else, more often than not, it's disappointment and *clunk, clunk... clunk.....*

*tears well up*

Anybody got anything lucky I could borrow...?!
