My tip for learning it well:

When I do it, I look like this:

l_o_l

A bird's eye view, With the 'o' being my head.

Ball from Cradle, raise elbow slightly to help the ball change direction from going up your forearm, to across your shoulders, and as it's going across the shoulders, push your head forward a little. Don't duck your head, stop it on your neck then force it over etc... To me, this isn't a good BTN roll. Just like a good chest roll looks effortless and without much moving of the arms, so should a BTN roll be.

But then, I haven't practised these in ages... Maybe someone with a better idea could give a better explanation...

I'll join in learning these, I'll have to learn it the from other direction though cos I've got decent technique from my good side already 8) I'll probably win though so don't count me as a contestant, I'll be doing it just cos I don't have any motivation right now to bother filling in those gaps.

I found them easy to get consistant. Do not under any circumstances take short cuts with this technique. Like letting it actually touch your neck or using your face for controll (looks pooh imo) , It'll just take longer in the end. Map the balls route out out really well and visualise correct technique before you commit to the actual grinding out the details and solidifying the roll to perfection. Oh and shoulders should never raise up keep them soft and relaxed.

LTC has a good descript for an easy good looking technique.

I'll have to add my 2p, About the head forward thing. It is unnessecary to do this. Think about a chest roll, I don't have to tilt my head back, I'll just lean back at the waist and open up my chest(you can sink(not quite the same as closing) the chest too but you have to open the shoulders, looks almost the same but I found I can lean back less and still get a completely smooth roll)
I can do the same thing but this time I'll lean forward at the waist and open the back, by closing the chest. again it looks almost the same as leaning you head forward, because your arms are isolated while you do this, so in relation to that it looks as if just the head is dipping. That probably made little sense to any body, man I am a geek.

yup, still working hard on them. Well I got alittle side tracked again with the funky isolations. 8)

you'll see in the next vid....in a few weeks or so, maybe just before or after BJC. i'm probably 90% consistant on one side and can usually do like 5-10 in a row without fluffing it. the other side is maybe 20% and looks a bit sketch. but its starting to happen on that side. maybe in a month or 2 it'll be aight. and my completed over the head roll is consistantish now. started working on the other direction recently too. I'm going to be sick with it. I've decided.
