Hi there,

I'm Shane, 32, from Toronto Canada, and recently became infatuated with contact juggling. That is, mesmerized.

Nothing has fascinated me quite as much, in observation, as seeing contact juggling in action this past Buskerfest in Toronto.

To say that I lost sight of myself while I was watching would not an understatement. I forgot myself completely.

All that being said, I'm going to give it a go. See if I can achieve the same by trying to learn and perform.

I look forward to trying it out, and my first acrylic sphere is ready for pickup tonight. I'm excited though have no illusions about how long a path it might be trying to learn.

As far as introductions go, I've explained why I'm here but little else, so here's a bit of a follow-up.

I'm employed in the techie computer world, more passionate about what I do outside of work; that being things delving more into the arts. Guitar, singing, writing, etc. I suppose my fascination and interest in contact juggling stems from that drive as well.

Anyway, good to meet you all, I'll be around reading and writing as I can.

Peace,

Shane

Hi Shane - Nice to see someone in my same country/age/experience bracket :-) I'm a little jealous you're CJ enlightenment experience was in person. I discovered it on the internet (somehow...youtube rabbit hole?). But yes, mesmerized is a great word! Now I think the word might be 'addicted'. These balls seem to have their own gravity (or magnatism?) and I can't seem to put them down!

There do seem to be a couple of other CJers in Regina here. I've met one other person, and I might meet another tomorrow. That would be very cool! As lovely as YouTube tutorials are, I like learning things from other people. Are you learning from anyone in TO?

Hi, Kestrel,

Yeah, I lucked out, running into Dawn Dreams at the recent Buskerfest and was completely entranced. :-) I pick up my first ball tonight from the post office. I've already been 'performing' in my head. I can't get the movements to stop playing in my mind, not that I'm looking for them to stop. Hopefully this will help facilitate learning.

I think there are a couple of people from Toronto floating around, but I am not yet connected with any; though I hope to seek out a small community or small number of people to help learn as I get started.

Good to meet you! And good luck. :-)

Damn, I haven't even picked up my guitar since that last time

If it fits in my car then I'm taking it to the Bristol convention, and I'll see if I can get something down on tape
