So, I have four 2.5 inch balls on order. Do you lot who multiball buy cases to keep your acrylics in, or so you make them?
In either case, what is the best way of obtaining/making a case?
Thanks. _________________ ------------------

I wish I would've taken a picture but I saw a case (Cameron's) at a juggling convention that was simply an old guitar case with thick foam in it and it had circles cut out for each ball. Looked really cool. |

Its a bit of both usualy. Bought/customised.
I like the look of this kinda stuff.

http://www.trifibre.co.uk/aluminium-cases/afcase1.htm
you can make do with some foam blocks. a big slab of a softer one with some holes bored in for the balls and backed with a slab of harder rigid stuff. I think thats kinda what Drew has his set in.
I don't even bother with a sock for mine. But when some astey new one come I'll sort a home out. _________________ With practice, Contact juggling is as good as a Ungody Sphereplay nose fight inside a post box |

Yeouch, Colin! Some of those are super pricey! o.O;;;
Beautiful, but wow.
Yah, I'm off to the craft store for some foam and a cheap box with a handle.
Those flight cases are really swank, though. _________________ ------------------

Thats what i'm going to do when i get into multiball. I've got an old tin case with a handle (started out as a smore's kit from walmart) thats 3"deep. I'll just shove some foam in there with indentations for the balls and be all merry and happy and stuff. _________________ Twirls Way Incredible Staff That He'll Eventually Make 488 |

Sorry I can't post a picture, but I am on a really bad dial up connection for the next week or so because I'm on vacation in Missouri not that Misery is much of a vacation.
Anyway, my case is cheap and cute...at least it has the opportunity to be! My husband and I spent the whole day looking for something to put them in. In the end we went to hobby lobby, and they had some unfinished wooden cases...they an unfinished wood box with brass latches and brass reinforced corners on the outside and a little handle...it was exactly what I had wanted and it was only $5! and it holds 6 2.7 balls. Actually right now it has 4 2.7" balls and my 3". I put foam padding in it that I also got at hobby lobby over in the fabric section(I only needed 2 sheets and they were only $1.20 or so each. I haven't had time to do anything fancy with it, but it's perfectly customizable I will have to put a picture up when I do finish it.
As an added bonus everything was 50% off the week I went(I was happily surprised) so it came out to about $4 total...couldn't have made me happier ....and at that price you can totally afford to get another one later.
They did have some smaller in case you only wanted one to fit just 4 balls. But mine don't roll around in there even if it's not full because I put enough padding in there that when I close it, it's snug on them and they are held in place.
Hope that helps for a cheap case option _________________ http://www.myspace.com/illumilatte

I remember seeing Spehar with a slick-looking bullet-proof briefcase filled with a foam block with spaces cut out. Almost like what Colin posted...
I'm currently using a craft-store box kind of thing. It's actually from a Pier1 outlet store, but I replaced the lid decoration on one. Before that was a vinyl bag with a drawstring. The box makes for an interesting puzzle, trying to get everything to fit inside again...
anyways, in terms of materials - give your local cabinet makers & sheet plastics shops a call and see if they have any leftover material for cheap. At the moment I'm trying 1/4" mdf hardboard and extruded acrylic sheet. The thinner material kept getting broken by airport baggage crews. _________________ "Were it not for this heritage of accumulated experience, my efforts would be feeble." |

perhaps if you street perform a lot, its not such a great idea to have a really nice case that looks like its full of precious things.
i used to have a beautiful foam filled antique camera case that i carried my stuff for my show around in, but last friday some cretin stole it thinking it contained an expensive camera.
now i'm looking for a nappy bag to carry my stuff around in. |

Well, I have always liked the 'gun case' look. It can come in hard plastic or metal. comes with foam allready, just pull out the foam blocks for what and where you need it and good to go. _________________ Contact juggling is a disease, to which there is no cure. Since I started this thread, my collection has grown to eight balls - 1 76 mm, 3 70mm and 4 65 mm. So far, they're in a basket with some fabric, but I'm seriously digging the guitar case/ foam thing I saw in that one video. _________________ ------------------
