so I've decided that I've banged up my acrylics enough and I want to buy a good practice ball. However, I'm trying to learn a lot of isolations and palm spinning, so I'm looking for a ball with a bit of a slicker surface than the lacross ball. The Dube stage balls are fairly cheap, but I wanted to see if they were good for learning isolations and palm spinning and to ask about the weight. I really like the weight of my 3inch acrylics and am a bit concerned about using a lighter ball.

i think that learning with a lighter ball is better, also with isolations (but that's just my opinion):

when you've learned with a lighter ball (like a rubber one), and then you try an heavier ball (like acrylic), you'll feel much more confident:
the heavier ball sticks a lot more to the hands,
and last but not least, the rubber ball doesn't roll as good as the acrylic one.

(I think it's like learning to drive with a car that hasn't got the power steering, and then, when you drive a car that has got it, you find it very easy.)

Isolations are easier the grippier the ball is. I really like working on isolations with a stage ball, it makes me feel like I understand what I'm doing better.
