I bit my nails so bad yesterday I couldn't CJ for 3 days, I was up 1/2 last night with a throbbing hand and I can barely type or write.

Certainly makes me want to stop biting.

I have fairly long nails outwards of 1/4" to 1/2" of just the nail after the tip of the finger and have never had problems.

Now that's the information I'm talking about. But do you do the butterfly with your fingers closed,or do you have your fingers slightly open?

you can learn to deal with anything. I don't know why having long nails would interfeere with you doing the butterfly. sure you would have to get the ball farther away from your hands before it starts to come back but eh. deal. sercumstance and difficulty make us who we are. so take the harder path and then you can powne noobs better. or well I guess you could teach them or help them or whatever. All that to say, learn something difficult and you will never regret it. Well it may be easier to learn without them, but they you can grow them back and have no problems. it dosen't matter what you decide, the only thing that matters is that you keep on.

I have long nails on my right hand because i also play classical guitar. I have found that you can use nails to support fingertip stalls. It looks really good when you stall a ball on your fingertips coming out of the circle move.

I've almost considered cutting my dreads...i just can't do it, ball guys right though, just tie em back and your good.

I've noticed my control slip when my nails protrude even a tiny bit from my finger tip, so sacrifice may be necessary.

Jea9 with dreads...hawt
but still hawt

Clip the "claws". Go out and learn martial arts instead. Should you ever be threatened, you fists are definetely much better weapons than your "claws". That way, you can CJ, and continue...what was it you said... pwning muggers in da face?

I keep my nails so short, I have to re-file them almost every other day because they grow so damn fast.

You can work with the long nails. I can't believe that no-one mentioned switching to a two finger "fork" cradle. With that style of Cj, it is possible to go more between your fingers rather than over the mountain of nails. Some people find it less "correct" but no one will flame you for it and the uninitiated don't know the difference.

My main deal is, I cannot do fingertip stalls with nails. Fingertip stalls are more important than claws.
