I've never understood why mimes are so universally despised.

At IJA last year everyone was busting on mimes. I think mime makeup on girls is kind of hot, myself. Take harley quinn from batman for example.

Striped shirts and a white face is to a mime what clown make-up and an apple is to a juggler.

Is that an S.A.T. question?

Seriously, though I get you. But surely some wear the traditional outfits, I mean how else would you know they're mimes and not just spastic mute crazy people?

hmmm good point

arnar- there really isn't anything online for mime resoures. but its not really that hard to get your head around some of the classical illusions.

There is one clip of a really really cool old school juggler named Michael Menes, where he does a load of mime illusions. just do a search on jugglingdb or google to find his website.

some classical illusions are used by poppers too, like the invisible wall or pulling an invisible rope ect.

Then go and check out Michael Menes website. I swear there is a video with a 'BULK' load of classic mime illusions performed really really well.

Also search google for marcel marceau. He IS the master.

Go here and read this site, you may notice there is some kind of school in Boulder.... http://www.mime.info/

I would suggest checking out libraries. I wa suprised to find a book on mime exercises in my school library. After I pay a fine for some other books I'm planning on taking it out again. It went through basic body isolations and routines. You might be surpised to find something neat things in there. I was, that little book is a treasure in a vault of Self-Help books. Why are there atleast twenty-three books on teen pregnancy in there? I have no idea.

The proper internet term is 'to kitten' your coffee. The term is derived from a Patron of alt.callahans (named Kitten appropriately enough) known for spitting Pepsi all over her monitor when reading the funny posts in the group.

Check out the book "Mime Spoken Here". It will give you everything you can possibly want to know about mime primise and improv work. I believe that you can still get it from Dube juggling. www.dube.com It is a hand book by Ernesto Montenero, I think thats right. It is modeled after his workshops. I teach directly from it. It applies to a variety of artforms. If you CJ, juggle, act, or perform magic it will be of great value to you. One of my favorite books in the performing arts category.
