so palm circles seem exstermly cool and really give the ball the floating effect. ive been trying it and im running to some diffculties.
first, where on my hand should the ball travel? should it stay on my palm or should i use my fingers as well??
second, i cant seem to keep the bal going in a circle. it looks more egg shaped most of the time.
third. clockwise or counter clockwise??
4th. keeping the ball isolated is exstermly diffacult!
any tips??
thanks arnar _________________ .org addict |

To hold you over until the experts in this field come along.
1. Wherever you can get the smoothest roll. Experiment.
2. Since this is the Isolation Forum, then I guess that's what you're working for. You should most likely be working on moving your hand around the ball rather than the ball around your hand.
3. Both.
4. practice. Saying it's difficult will only hinder you.
Don't try too hard. Just go with the flow. You'll eventuall get it. Just keep playing around and it'll come to you. Don't force yourself into a move, you'll get aggrevated and easily give up. Let it come to you. Never practice, always play. _________________ ~Ryan

i like that. never practive always play.
so ive been rolling the ball clockwise, using my fingers and letting the ball roll about half way down my hand, back to my fingers. i was doing this and watching it in the mirror, and it looks pretty isolated even though that wasnt what i was going for. im not that great but hey i have the basic movement down now.

Yeah, for the right hand at least I can get it to look somewhat isolated, but now I've gone back to just doing a palm circle, holding my wrist with my left hand to make sure I use my fingers and gravity to move the ball in a circle rather than just inertia and my hand moving under it. It helps. Though it seems to me it is many times easier to do palm cirlces either direction with two balls. I can hardly get the ball to go clockwise at all when I'm using just one, and whenever I try to speed up it goes widdershins again. _________________ If you aren't a part of the solution, you're part of the precipitate. |

two is alot easier than one. the holding-of-the-wrist did help somewhat. my right hand keeps spasing out as im typing this becuase the muslcles are a little overworked from spinning one for about 2 hours..............
not a good idea.

I wish I could find the time and initiative to practice palm circles for two hours. I think, starting this weekkend, I will institute Ben's Friday Night Juggling Practice, wherein I spend up to half an hour cleaning my room (to make it CJ-safe), and then CJ till I fall asleep. I reeeeaaaally need to get in some serious down to reality practicing, not just footiling in my spare minutes. _________________ If you aren't a part of the solution, you're part of the precipitate. |

I always bring my ball everywhere with me, but it's a tad hard to focus on technique when you're in a theater seat during intermission of Alvin Ailey's Chicago show, which, by the way, was awesome. I just like being awake when no one else is. And it's not so much nocturnal as just not sleeping... _________________ If you aren't a part of the solution, you're part of the precipitate. |
