Hi! I got two questions for you:

First: The cage. I'm wondering how you get the ball inside the cage in this trick. It is poorly described in "Contact Juggling", by James Ernest, and so far, I haven't found it described somewhere else. Could anyone please tell me how to do it?

Second: I have started to learn the (back arm) chest roll, and I'm starting to get the hang of it. But, I think I'm doing it wrong. I tend to move the arm the ball rolls from, up and across my chest, blocking the view of the ball, and I'm quite sure this is wrong. Any tip on how to fix this?

Sadly, I donít have a camera, but I got a Wacom Intuos3 drawing board, so Iíve made a quick sketch that might help to visualize what Iím talking of:

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

For the cage to inside try this: hold the ball in the cage on your right hand. Give a good push upwards with your hands and rotate the cage to the left (anti-clockwise) and inwards so that your palms are facing the audience.

At this point the ball should roll across the back of your right hand and if you continue the circular motion then you should be able to catch the ball on your right palm, back of the hand towards the audience with the left hand on top.

Make sense?

Thanks for the tip on the cage!

I'm not quite sure if I understand what you are saying about the chest roll, though... on the pic I've drawn, the ball is on the chest, at least, not on the arm. Bah, I'll just have to practise, I guess... It is just such a nasty habit

All of that post was in reference to the cage, in terms of chestrolls I agree crossed hands looks a bit rubbish, at first you need to lean back a bit more to get them smooth also try turning away from the ball as it rolls.

To make that clearer just think the ball wants to travel in a straight line, move your body to try and facilitate this somewhat. Hope that clarifies a little bit.

The trick for me to figure the chest roll out - which I've only done recently - was definitely leaning away from the sphere.. bending your back backward to give the sphere a straight plane of contact between you and the ground.

In truth, it was brinechild's youtube video that helped me finally "get" it: http://youtube.com/watch?v=6qDVUcz0DKo&mode=related&search=

He's done lots of great little tutorial videos like that.
