Okay... so I just started this today... got interested in it because of a Youtube video from the Labyrinth, which lead me to another demonstration video which lead me.... anyhow. What is an isolation? I know I sound like a complete and total idiot for asking that but I really don't know. I even watched some of the videos on isolation moves and still can't seem to figure it out... Please explain... Thanks in advance!

An isolation is when you maintain a balls position comparatively to another object, usually the earth. When using a ball with no marks on it (acrylics, stage balls, gazing globes, etc) it seems like the balls is floating in the air or simply stuck in a spot.

Is that all? Now I was thinking it was something really confusing and stuff. I noticed the "floating" look, but never would have guessed that was it. Thanks so much.

Yeah, I wondered the same thing at first when I started reading this forum but luckily there are some good posts about them if you're interested in learning.

In my opinion an isolation is something $@#!ing hard that you make look easy

It's making things look like they're not moving in a vaguely difficult way innit?

nothing wrong with yours, Ryan, but Drew's link not only shows it, but also how to do it.

everyone's pretty much cleared up what an isolation is. the most common ones (that i've seen) are the Enigma and the Palm Circle Isolation. palm circle iso is when it looks like your hand is moving under te ball while the ball sits in space. i think the trick to that is either counteracting the ball's movements when doing a normal 1 ball palmspin, or getting it to spin on the Z-axis. anyone who can actually do it can explain it better than I. and don't worry, you don't sound stupid. you sound smart. you asked when you were unsure. stupid people don't ask, and either make up their own answer or don't bother with it at all. kinda like a certain Texan and social security...
