So after a summer of using my 100mm acrylic I'm switching back to my stage ball to 'smooth' myself out a bit.
I'm using a 100mm Dube stage ball and I'm just finding it far too light, like I feel the thing has no momentum, and yeah I have given myself time to get used to it after using the acrylic.
I'm curious to know if theres a heavier stage ball in existence? Ideally somewhere around 240-270 grams or a littler lighter than a 3in acrylic. _________________

I've never tried these myself, but Dube has spinning balls.

Grrrrrr.
Yes,
http://www.ministryofmanipulation.com/reviews/contact-balls-review/
It's a 280g stage ball
It's my favourite ball for 1 ball contact juggling at the moment.
On moves I'm learning, I'm about twice as solid with these balls as with stage balls:
Lighter stage ball get move 3 times out of 10
Heavier contact ball get move 6 times out of 10
Save yourself lots of practice time.
No, you can't get them in USA without importing them.
No. I'm not commercially connected with them! _________________ http://ministryofmanipulation.com |

For Statesiders: Try renegade juggling.
My 5" from them is quite heavy. maybe the 4.5" will be quite nice. I'm not sure about the smaller sizes though.
Otherwise, it is a case of importing the heavier 4" from England (but it's so worth it!) _________________ With practice, You too could be like Ryan Mellors... |

There is some interesting conversation here about Stage Balls.
I am a roller more than a spinner.
I have 2 4in Stage balls from Dube. And I LOVE THEM!
I have 2 4in acrylics, but for the most part, I do EVERYTHING with my stage balls. it did take a couple days to get used to the weight of the stage balls, but once I did, I found that everything became so much easier for me.
Not because the stage ball is perfect.....(none are, they all have a tiny spot that is imperfect) but just from confidence.
I am not worried about breaking anything with my 4in stage ball. I know that if my stage ball falls on my wife or cats while working on a new move, they will still be ok.
I can attempt more difficult moves without fear of hurting myself or breaking the acrylic.
Yes, it was more difficult to manage the stage ball over the acrylic because of weight difference. But that was only because I was so used to using my 4 in acrylic, and managing its weight.
I love my stage balls. They are the ones that I take with me everywhere I go now. Though a lot of people do not like them. I would stay at least try them out. Use them for those moves that you just dont want to risk your acrylic on. Their only a few bucks anyway.

There's no USA vendor...
But I'm pretty sure you can get them imported from the UK.
Either direct from the Company (Oddballs, and I've heard Firetoys are stocking them too) or I would think one of us UK contact Jugglers could be willing to help out... _________________ With practice, You too could be like Ryan Mellors... |
