kverens: At first, the best way to do it is to control the balls one at a time with the fingers, "throwing" the ball towards the heel of the hand just as you reach for the second ball - like a horizontal version of toss-jugglings "one-handed shower". After you have got that nicely, you can release the grip from the fingers until you're actually controlling using the muscles of the lower phalanges in the fingers and thumb.
chico: start with a normal 2 ball palm spin, then sort of loosen the "limit" of where you let the balls roll... Instead of your hands forming an imaginary circle that is a perfect diamter for both balls, make it so that imaginary circle is maybe 130% large enough. No more pressure pushing the two together :)

very nice, but what's the advantage of not letting the balls touch?

Personal Preferance. Some people like palmspinning with the balls apart and not touching at all.. Take a look at Tony Duncan. He has to do seperated palmspinning

with sticky balls, it's difficult to do your moves with the balls together - see the 3b version of this, for example, where silicons were used.

also, some people don't like the clicking that you get when the balls are not held apart.

Works good when using non-spherical items (such as fruit). I use it for spontaneous tricks at the chow hall.
