Polycarbs vs. Acrylics |

Ok, I went and called the Engineering Labs people cause I'm going to try and round up some people around here to put in an order. I asked about polycarbs vs. acrylics and the guy told me this. He said that acrylics are the clearest material he can make em out of. Not only that, but they have different grades, so I figure you could get your hands on an ultra transparent ball with very high refraction. As far as polycarbs go, he said that they are in fact stronger than acrylics, but cannot be made to look as clear. He said that by virtue of them being harder, they're more likely to shatter (but you'd really have to dedicate yourself to accomplishing this. He said that he'd never heard of a polycarb ball shattering though. I'm guessing that it could be done in theory. So, that's me, doing research for the greater good of humanity. I guess it would be good to have a polycarb as a practice ball, and keep the acrylics for performances.
